There is no single best panel. Aiko and REC are the premium end — worth it on a small or shaded roof where every watt counts. Jinko and Canadian Solar deliver more kilowatts for the same spend, which usually generates more electricity over 25 years. Trina sits between the two.

How Does Panel Efficiency Actually Work?
Efficiency is the share of the sunlight hitting a panel that comes out as electricity. A 22% panel and a 24% panel both produce the wattage on their label — the difference is how much roof they need to do it.
So efficiency only matters when roof space is the limit. If you have a clear north-facing roof, buying more kilowatts of a mid-tier panel almost always beats buying fewer kilowatts of a premium one.
The number that does matter everywhere in Perth is the temperature coefficient. Panels lose output as they heat up, and roof temperatures here routinely pass 60°C in summer. A −0.24%/°C panel keeps meaningfully more of its rating at that point than a −0.34%/°C one.
Worked example
A 32m² north-facing roof
Aiko at 24.2%
15 panels × 470W = 7.05kW — highest output the roof can physically hold.
Canadian Solar at 22.5%
14 panels × 450W = 6.30kW — around 11% less, at a noticeably lower price.
If the roof isn’t full, spend the difference on more panels. If it is full, spend it on better ones.

It depends on your roof. Aiko is the best panel we sell on efficiency, REC on heat performance, Canadian Solar on price, and Jinko is the best all-rounder for a standard Perth home. Tell John your roof size, shading and budget and he’ll narrow it to one or two.
A 25-year warranty is only as good as the company behind it and the installer who lodges the claim. These five all have Australian warranty support and stock we can actually get hold of. We’d rather know five products properly than list forty.
On a small, shaded or complex roof, yes — you can’t add more panels, so each one has to work harder. On a large clear roof, usually not: the same money buys a bigger mid-tier system that generates more over its life.
N-type silicon degrades more slowly, runs cooler and handles low light better than the older P-type PERC cells. Every panel on this page is N-type or HJT — we no longer quote P-type for residential work.
Fifteen 440W panels, or fourteen 470W panels. A 6.6kW system needs roughly 30–34m² of unshaded roof and suits a household using 20–25kWh a day.
